It is no secret how much I love hockey. It is also well known that there any very few hockey movies. Here’s hoping that there are more hockey movies made in the coming years. Until then, here are the top 10 hockey movies.
10. Sudden Death
Yes, the Jean Claude Van Damme movie. What can I say, it is mindless entertainment, but it’s a guilty pleasure and I need a 10th movie for this list.9 The Rocket
I am not a fan of the Habs or even Maurice Richard, but he has his place secured in the NHL for ever now that he has a trophy named after him. The movie was a decent flick chronicling the rocket’s life, both on and off the ice.8 Mystery, Alaska
This flick is surprisingly good. The hockey scenes are pretty good and the story is decent enough to make the film work.7 Miracle
We all knew a film about the Miracle on Ice would be coming in our lifetime and it didn’t disappoint. Kurt Russell portrayed the late Herb Brooks to a tee. The hockey scenes were top notch and the games were accurate and believable. There was no final second goals in the third period or overtime.6 Youngblood
This little known hockey flick from the 80s stars a young Rob Lowe as a 17 year old hotshot, who joins Patrick Swayze and the rest of the Hamilton Mustangs in the junior Canadian leagues. The film comes off a little cheesy at times, but it is never meant to be taken seriously and that’s what makes this film so enjoyable.5 Gold Rush 2002
I couldn’t make a top 10 list of hockey movies without including this excellent documentary of the 2002 men’s Canadian Olympic hockey team. It would be uncanadian not to include this flick. Yes, I know it’s biased since I am a die hard patriot, but this documentary gives great insight into process of picking the gold medal winning team, the trial and errors of playing on a big ice surface and ultimately all the highlights from all the games.4 D3: The Mighty Ducks
Although, this is probably the most realistic movie of the trilogy and it shows how much the characters have matured since the first movie. There is barely any hockey scenes in this movie, but the JV-Varsity showdown at the end is extremely enjoyable. Another weakness of this film is the lack of Bombay.3 The Mighty Ducks
I grew up with this movie. I have watched it so much that I can quote it on cue every time I watch it. It is the movie that really got into hockey. The characters are quirky and enjoyable to make the predictable of the underdogs overcome the odds to win the Pee Wee state championships.2 D2: The Mighty Ducks
This is a great sequel and another movie that I grew up with. The main reason why this movie squeaks by its original is because Wolf “the dentist” Stansson is one of the single greatest villains to ever grace the screen, which makes the USA Ducks triumph even sweeter, especially when a cold back-up goalie stops the leading goal scorer of the tournament in the shoot-out.1 Slap Shot
This movie is awesome. There’s no other way to describe it. The hockey scenes are cheesy and mostly involve bench clearing brawls and other events that would lead to lengthy suspensions in the real NHL. The adult comedy is what sets this movie apart from other hockey movies as it is also one of the best comedies ever made. The Hanson brothers and Paul Newman make this movie unforgettable and entertaining.top 10 hockey movies
It’s like watching a kid learning how to walk or something. I don’t mind my parents having one because they don’t go on it and annoy me like other parents would.
One of my favorite photos of vintage New York City. This is Times Square, circa 1950.

His wife is a bitch and his ex is the nicest person you’ll ever meet. In my opinion and as well as my parents-he fucked up. She just added me on facebook and I accepted faster than I would my cousin haha.
